Community Connect Northern Beaches’ Volunteer Program connects people with volunteer positions in not for profit organisations throughout Manly, Warringah and Pittwater and is funded by NSW Department Family & Community Services, Ageing Disability and Home Care (ADHC) through the Home & Community Care (HACC) program.

We specialise in helping individuals and organisations wanting to get into volunteering.

Community Volunteering Northern Sydney DVD

This DVD showcases some of the volunteer opportunities available within the Northern Sydney region. It was developed by the Northern Sydney Volunteer Network in an effort to demonstrate the joy volunteering gives to all. Recipient agencies and volunteers will find volunteering rewarding. A list of volunteer opportunities:

  1. VOLUNTEER RECEPTIONIST
    Hours: 9.30am - 4pm, with half hour lunch break
    Days: Friday & Thursday from 15 May
    Duties: Greet and deal with people coming in, answer phones to take bookings, email booking details, deal with phone enquiries and other duties as directed.
    Qualities required: Good standard of spoke and written English, patience, polite manner, reliability, ability to work in fast-paced environment.
    Could suit someone who needs to do their hours through Centrelink.
  2. VOLUNTEER BUS ASSISTANT
    Hours:
    Varible, but could be 8am - 6pm on social outing days
    Days: Monday - Friday, and occasional weekend for social outings.
              Variable, one day a fortnight, for mystery drives or as shopping assistant. Social outings take place at least twice a week.
    Duties: Telephone ahead to inform customers of pick-up time, assist customers onto bus, help with seat belt, stow walkers etc, collect money, look after wellbeing of customers on bus and at venue, complete paperwork and liaise with office re customer issues.
    Qualities required: Patience, ability to help customers on and off vehicle, ability to use mobile phone, reconcile money and follow instructions given by office, friendly nature.
  3. VOLUNTEER BUS DRIVER
    Hours:
    Variable, but could be 8am - 6pm on social outing days
    Days: Monday - Friday, occasional weekend for social outings
              Variable, one day a fortnight, for mystery drives. Social outings take place at least twice a week.
    Duties: Safely drive the 21 seater bus to collect customers from home and take to venue, and return
    Qualities required: Safe, steady driver, patience, ability to follow instructions, knowledge of local area a bonus
  4. VOLUNTEER DRIVER
    Hours:
    Variable, 8am - 5pm
    Days: Variable, Monday - Friday
    Duties: Pick up from home and drive customers safely to appointments in Easylink vehicle as per schedule.
    Qualities required: Drivers Licence, patience, ability to relate to frail aged and people with disabilities, ability to follow instructions and run sheet, flexibility, ability to use mobile phone and on-board device.
  5. VOLUNTEER DRIVER AND COMPANION CARER
    Hours: Variable, 8am - 5pm
    Days: Variable, Monday - Friday
    Duties: Pick up from home and drive customers to appointments in Easylink or own vehicle as per schedule. Accompany frail customers who need assistance to their appointments or shopping, stay with them, and return them home.
    Qualities required: Drivers Licence, patience, ability to relate to frail aged and people with disabilities, ability to follow instruction and run sheet, flexibility, ability to use mobile phone and on-board device.
